What is MITOHO?
MITOHO (me-toe-ho) is a Japanese word, stands for unclimbed mountain.
LOOLOWNINGEN & THE FAR EAST IDIOTS (LOOLOWS), Tokyo-based rock band since 2010, started their event called "MITOHO SESSIONS", curating the bands and musicians which have brand-new feeling, style, sound from all over Japan.
This website is for living outside Japan, introducing the great Japanese musicians you may not know, often called "Galapagosized" sound are here.
Salsa is not a band playing salsa, but rock'n'roll. The song "Cider" reminds us of Japanese legend Bloodthirsty Butchers, and recently they use more riff-oriented, rhythm-oriented arrange like Captain Beefheart.
KITSUNE NO YOMEIRI (KYOTO)
They give weight to both Japonesque/folk/trad and jazz/rock, so that the band name KITSUNE NO YOMEIRI, means sunshower is very suitable for them. Recently they got new member playing marimba, and more wide sound.
USAGI BUNNYBOY (HIROSHIMA)
Complicated twin guitars' ensemble, fast groove, melodic alternative punk band. Takamiya-san, leader of UBB, is the key person of Hiroshima's indie rock scene.
PANICSMILE is playing more than 25 years, with changing members several times, and the newer the better. Their style are the symbol of Japanese alternative rock music.
KUMIO KURACHI (FUKUOKA)
His Career started as AJA CRAYONS, intelligent punk band, then he plays solo using strange but full of imaginated lyrics, and electric guitar inspired by Japanese harp.
Doit Science (KUMAMOTO)
Doit Science make super one and only sound- the ensemble like "Red Krayola meets Led Zeppelin", repeating imperfect texture and too much chorus like mysterious dream.
